Proview Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q)

To reinstall the Proview Software to an existing location

Click on Re Setup Software and run the installation.

Install to C:\PROVIEWN (recommended)

For notes on installing to Windows 7 click here faqwin7_rset.htm

If you are installing to a network, then check existing path settings in PROVIEWW.INI see notes in 3. below.

IMPORTANT

Proview will only run on the 32bit versions of Windows eg Win 7.0 32bit

Solutions for users changing computers.

1. For Windows 7 64bit ; simply activate the XP virtual PC that is shipped with Win 7.

Then install Proview within this XP Virtual PC.

2. If you need to change computers consider buying a second hand refurbished computer running the Windows 7 32 bit version,

These can be purchased for approx $300.

If you also have a 64bit computer, you might then consider networking the Windows 7 and Windows 10 , and using the Windows7 exclusively for Proview.

This is a simpler solution than running Windows 7 as a virtual machine, within Windows 10.

However

3. If you wish to use a 64bit Windows then you will need to install a Virtual PC running a copy of Windows 32 bit version of Windows 7 or XP

The installation on Windows 10 is not simple.

For windows 10, install a virtual PC (e.g. VMware) running Windows 7 in 32bit mode, then install Proview within Virtual PC. This should be done by an experienced technician.

We do not recommend Win10 32bit or 64bit as the Operating System. for Proview.

You can install Proview on an Apple iMAC as follows.
